Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy has consistently been a central element of the schoolβs ethos, embodying the presence of chrism throughout its culture. While its significance has remained constant, the responsibility for enacting chaplaincy is now shared across the entire school community, ensuring that all members actively contribute to its practice.
The chaplaincy has a pastoral role within school supporting both staff and children. It is made up of members of teaching staff, non-teaching staff, governors, members of the parish and the parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
Chaplaincy Aims
The aim of chaplaincy within our school is to support and enrich the spiritual life of the community, with a strong focus on Christian faith, worship, and prayer. It helps to strengthen the links between school, home, parish, and the wider local and national community through the service of both staff and pupils. Pupils are encouraged to take an active role in the Catholic life of the school by planning, preparing, and leading aspects of worship and service, recognising that they are βCalled to Serveβ in different ways throughout the year. Chaplaincy also provides opportunities for children to explore their own beliefs and values, while developing a deeper understanding of Christian teaching. Through this, pupils are able to articulate the importance of serving others, drawing on scripture to explain why service is central to living out their faith.
